The Legacy of Jim Rohn to Attract Success

Jim Rohn, one the most respected mentors not only to me but to millions of others left us December 5, 2009 for a better place. I can’t tell you how sad that had  me. I had a lifelong dream to meet him. I was part of an event last year in Texas where I was going to have this dream of meeting Mr Rohn come true. However, to my great disappointment, he was too ill to make it that event at that time. Now I will have to wait til we are both meet in Heaven.  However, in spite of this lost meeting, I am so grateful for all that he has done and said to impact me and millions of others in such an amazing way.

One of the messages he instilled in my being is this… “Life is like the seasons – You cannot change the seasons – but you can change yourself.”  Jim Rohn learned this from his mentor, another amazing man, J. Earl Shoaff.  You can read more about J. Earl Shoaff by following this link: www.earl.com

In additon to Jim Rohn, several well known well respected individuals learned and lived Earl’s philosophies for success – people like Zig Ziglar, Mary Kay Ash, Bill Bailey, etc. From what he learned and put to work in his own life many years ago, Mr Rohn made famous  meaning of “personal development”.

He taught me that in order to climb the ladder of success it is more important to work harder on myself than my job. He stated, “If you work hard on your job you can make a living, but if you work hard on yourself you can make a fortune.”

Since at the time he was learning these things, he was supporting his family and could not quit his job.  Jim Rohn asked his mentor the question, “How can I make a living and a fortune?”  He followed his mentors advice when he continued to pay bills and make a living for himself at a full time job making $50.00 a week… and began working on his fortune as he worked on himself part time.

Jim teaches us all our income is primarily determined by your philosophy… not to the economy.

When Jim first shared this,  I got excited because I could not change the economy but I knew I could change myself. Success is something you attract by becoming an attractive person.

Success is not something you pursue, it’s something you attract.  So it seems it would be best to become an attractive person.

  • So what makes a person attractive?
  • How can becoming attractive increase your profits in real estate?

Jim fondly closed his programs with the following sentiments: “I go with you in all the experience that we’ve had. But I promise you this as we leave here: I will not leave you behind. I’ll take you with me in my thoughts and in my heart.”

I feel the same way about Jim. His spirit lives on through the many lives whom he has inspired. His legacy will forever live on, not only in me but in the lives of so many others.

  3. I first attended a multi day Jim Rohn seminar in the early 80’s
in S. Calif. He was a great inspiration for me. His positive
messages and teaching was an important part of my life as I
grow older and realized the truth of his and Mr. Schulf (not sure about the spelling) insights. I have not heard much about
him in recent years. Once in a while I still listen to his
cassette tapes (yes I said cassette tapes). I am sure he
inspired most of the speakers for the past 20+ years.
